So, I finally saw Fahrenheit 9/11 and Bowling for Columbine this weekend. (And real props to Michael Moore for giving the OK to download them off the Internet.) First thought: Moore really needs to stop using music to make his points. I half expected him to end F911 with a video montage of GWB falling off the Segway, set to the Benny Hill theme.
The latter half of F911 seemed a bit disjointed, and it seemed to me that Moore was relying too much on showing the existence of connections between Bush and the Saudis <supposedly evil party X> rather than showing how said connections might be causing serious problems. And when he cuts from a mother crying about her son who was killed in Iraq, straight to a Haliburton ad and a bunch of suits talking about the kind of money they're going to make off of Iraq, his technique is so obvious that it undermines the importance of the point he's trying to make.
I thought Bowling for Columbine was much more entertaining. I think I want to move to Canada now (eh). Moore has a real talent for having a camera rolling when people start to make total asses of themselves, and there's little I love more than watching people in power squirm. Whatever my feelings about the strengths and weaknesses of the films, it's good to have guys like Moore around in order to keep those guys on their toes.
If you see Moore approaching with a cameraman, run.
Fool me once...uh...
